Refund Policy
Last updated: March 22, 2026 · Effective: March 22, 2026
1. Scope
This Refund Policy applies to any paid access to the GovEtract platform (“Platform”), including subscriptions or other commercial plans we may offer. It is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service. By purchasing paid access, you agree to the terms of this policy and any plan-specific billing terms shown at checkout or in your order form.
This policy does not apply to any third-party services you may purchase separately (e.g., government database subscriptions, filing fees, or professional services engagements). Those purchases are governed by the terms of the respective provider.
2. Paid Plans and Renewals
2.1 Plan Terms
Billing frequency, renewal timing, and included features depend on the plan you purchase. Those terms will be shown in the relevant checkout flow, invoice, or order form.
- Renewal: Paid plans may renew automatically unless otherwise stated at checkout or in your order form.
- Cancellation: You may request cancellation of future renewals through any billing interface we make available or by contacting billing@govetract.com. Unless stated otherwise in your commercial terms, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid term.
- Refunds: Fees are generally non-refundable once a paid term begins, except as required by law, expressly stated at checkout, or approved by us in writing.
2.2 Pilot Access and Trials
If we offer pilot access or a free trial, any conversion to paid service, trial length, and billing start date will be described in the applicable offer. If you are not charged, this Refund Policy does not apply until a paid term begins.
3. Non-Refundable Items
The following are not eligible for refunds under any circumstances:
- Completed paid terms: Charges for service periods that have already started or been fully delivered, except where required by law
- Accounts terminated for cause: Subscriptions terminated by GovEtract for violation of the Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy are not eligible for refund
- Consumed usage or services: One-time services, usage-based charges, or other consumed add-ons, unless we state otherwise in writing
- Past billing cycles: Charges that were properly billed for prior service periods before the refund request
4. Exceptional Circumstances
We recognize that exceptional circumstances can arise. GovEtract may, at its sole discretion, issue a refund, service credit, or billing adjustment in the following situations:
- Billing errors: If you were charged incorrectly, such as a duplicate charge or an amount inconsistent with your purchase terms
- Unauthorized charges: If you believe your account was charged without authorization, contact us immediately at billing@govetract.com and we will investigate and resolve the matter
- Service issues: If a material service issue within our control results in a significant loss of paid access, we may decide to issue an appropriate credit or adjustment
Requests for exceptional refunds are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. To request one, email billing@govetract.com with a description of the circumstances.
5. Statutory Rights
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits any statutory rights you may have under applicable law. In particular:
- If you are a consumer located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you may have a statutory right to cancel a subscription within 14 days of purchase (the “cooling-off period”) under the Consumer Rights Directive / Consumer Contracts Regulations. Note that by requesting access to the Platform immediately upon purchase, you acknowledge that the Platform has begun and the cooling-off period may be reduced proportionally to usage.
- If you are a consumer located in California or another U.S. state with statutory cancellation rights, those rights are preserved to the extent required by law.
GovEtract is primarily designed for business customers (B2B), and statutory consumer protections may not apply to all subscribers. If you are unsure whether statutory rights apply to your situation, contact us.
6. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund:
- Email billing@govetract.com from the email address associated with your GovEtract account
- Include the subject line: “Refund Request — [your company name]”
- Provide your account email address and the date of the charge you are disputing
- Briefly describe the reason for your refund request
We aim to review refund or billing requests within a reasonable time. If approved, refunds are generally returned to the original payment method, subject to payment processor timing.
7. Chargebacks
We encourage you to contact us at billing@govetract.com before initiating a chargeback with your bank or credit card issuer. We are committed to resolving billing disputes fairly and directly.
If you initiate a chargeback without first contacting us, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account pending resolution of the dispute and to contest the chargeback if it does not meet the criteria for a refund under this policy.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to your account address at least 14 days before the effective date. The policy in effect at the time of your most recent subscription renewal applies to your refund eligibility for that billing cycle.
