Cookie Policy

Last updated: March 22, 2026 · Effective: March 22, 2026

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a web server when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device, maintain session state, and remember your preferences across visits.

Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixel tags. This policy covers all such technologies used by GovEtract.

2. How We Use Cookies

GovEtract is a business application, not a consumer marketing site. Our cookie use is minimal and functional — we do not use advertising cookies, behavioral tracking, or third-party analytics that profile you across other websites.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the Platform to function. You cannot opt out of these without losing access to core functionality.

The labels above are plain-English names for the cookies you may see. Exact cookie names and session lifetimes can vary depending on your browser, environment, and account configuration.

3.2 Functional Cookies

These cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience.

3.3 Analytics Cookies

We do not currently use analytics cookies. Limited server-side operational logs and selected product-event records may still be created when you use the Platform, but those records do not rely on Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Segment, or any other third-party analytics service that drops cookies on your device.

If we introduce third-party analytics in the future, we will update this policy and obtain appropriate consent where required.

3.4 Advertising Cookies

We do not use advertising cookies. We do not serve behavioral advertising, retargeting ads, or interest-based ads. No advertising cookies are placed on your device by or through the Platform.

4. Session Storage and Similar Browser Storage

In limited cases, the Platform uses browser session storage for short-lived auth flow state. For example, after sign-up, invitation acceptance, or a password reset request, we may temporarily store the email address you just used so the check-email page can offer a resend action without placing that address in the URL.

This session storage remains in your browser, is not shared across sites, and is typically cleared when the browser tab or session ends. We do not currently use persistent browser local storage for cross-site tracking or advertising purposes.

5. Third-Party Cookies

Third-party services embedded in or linked from the Platform may set their own cookies. These services include:

  • Supabase: Authentication infrastructure. Supabase cookies are necessary for platform access. Supabase's cookie and privacy practices are described at supabase.com/privacy.

We do not embed third-party social media widgets, video players, or advertising networks that would place additional cookies on your device without your knowledge.

6. How to Control Cookies

6.1 Browser Settings

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Instructions for common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

Note: Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in or using the Platform.

6.2 Do Not Track

We do not respond to browser-based Do Not Track (DNT) signals because we do not engage in cross-site tracking. Our Platform does not serve behavioral advertising regardless of DNT status.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy if we introduce new technologies or services. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date and notify you if the changes are material.

8. Contact

For questions about our use of cookies or tracking technologies, contact privacy@govetract.com.
